Believe in yourself and never let anyone else tell you otherwise.
I have recently discovered bullet journaling and the power of its ability to help you to organise and achieve clarity in your life and mind. Being a digital (paperless) person, I decided to use GoodNotes for my bullet journal and to create my own mood tracker. Bullet journals are great and personal to each individual, you can customise and create any pages from a weekly spread, to tracking progress, to shopping list, cleaning spreads, planning a holiday etc It is very inspiring indeed and there are whole communities on Facebook that share their ideas and pictures of their spread. But in keeping with the theme of the blog, finding/writing your way to happiness, I put together a (rather amateurish) mood tracker which serves as a good prompt for me to slow down at the end of the day and reflect on my emotional state. Each square is coloured in accordance… Read More
We are all guilty of it. We look others and compare our weight, our dress, our wealth, our careers, our social status etc We neglect to realise that we are one in a million and there won't be anyone else like us. Embrace your uniqueness! Celebrate being you!
Sometimes life can be a bit same-y same-y. This is a sign that when you are feeling beyond complacent, almost fed up, on a flatline mood level, that it is high time to alter your routine or introduce more variety/things you enjoy. I wrote a post on identifying a 'Happy to do list' that focuses on YOU and YOUR happiness. Head over and download the printable for free.
Don't take life too seriously that you forget who you are and what you like. It is ok to let your hair down every now and then and have some fun!
So guys, this is something I have been doing lately and finding it refreshing to be able to ‘brain dump’ all my thoughts onto paper (or electronic e-ink device, my current fave!). Journalling is free form writing and your private space to spill your thoughts out on paper. It is believed journalling like this brings out your inner dreams and desires. For someone like me who doesn’t feel like they know who they are anymore, lost in the world of responsibility, mundane routine or work, commute, sleep, it is easy to forget what you WANT and what you LIKE. What do I write about? It doesn’t have to be reams long unless you want to write that much but some of the things I have been doing are: Every morning 3 things I am grateful for What would make today great 3 Affirmations Every night 3 things that went well… Read More
It is important to look after number one. We often put others before us and end up neglecting ourselves. To give the best we can to others, we must first focus on ourselves and making us the best version of us we can be. Don't compare yourself to others as we are all unique. There are only one of us after all. I sense another quote...!
What are you grateful for? Taking the time to stop and think about what you appreciate in your life can be uplifting. Gratitude lists can help lift you in many ways. If you are having a rough time with something, grab your list (either on your phone or carry it in a notebook) and read the list. Getting through a day can be tough sometimes, especially if you have particular stressors you have no control of. For me it is my job, I have tight deadlines and difficult colleagues. Random problems can occur at anytime and with it a surge of negative emotion and overwhelm. At this moment in time, getting your gratitude list reminds you that not all is bad and there are good things to be happy about. It gives you that little nudge to say, “hey, not all is bad, look at what you have!”. This free… Read More
One of the best tips I have received is to create a to do list. No, not the sort where you write down your boring chores I.e. do the washing, buy some milk, take the car in for service etc etc This is a different list, one that focuses on YOU and YOUR Happiness. In this list, you are encouraged to think about the things, including the littlest things that make you happy. Just take a moment to think through your average day from when you wake up to the moment you go to bed. Are there things that make you happy, feel great emotions, or feel relaxed? Let me start, for me the moment I start to feel happy is when I put my stuff down at my desk at work and take a stroll to my regular coffee shop, the smell of the coffee, the ambiance and the… Read More
What is most important to you? How do you work it out? Do you know why you do some of the things you do? I had an interesting discussion yesterday with a friend. We worked through a list of things that were important to us, for me they were the first things that came to mind: 1) My husband 2) Financial Independence and freedom 3) Flat and security/roof over head 4) Family and friends 5) Health and Well Being As health and well being ranked 5th, it occurred to me why I struggle to feel happy, to be more confident and to have a more positive outlook. This was because I struggle to let go of the main thing that is the root cause of my unhappiness: my employment. Like with everyone else, it makes me self solvent and gives me financial security, which was number 3 on my list… Read More
